Bulimia Nervosa is a serious and potentially life threatening eating disorder . Most individuals who suffer of bulimia nervosa, binge by eating large amounts of food and secretly throwing it all up later in privacy to get rid of all the calories they have consumed which is very unhealthy. Many individuals who suffer of bulimia are body conscious and refrain from gaining weight. Methods individuals use when trying to get rid of food they have consumed are self induced vomiting, laxatives, fasting, strict dieting and excessive dieting. Bulimia is a self image disorder and is very hard to over come but there are therapist's ready to help individuals over come this disorder.
Anorexia Nervosa- is the REFUSAL to eat and most individuals who suffer with this disorder have a great fear of gaining weight. The individual is usually under the normal weight for their height category. The individual is usually in denial that they are extremely under weight and refuse to seek help. The individual usually suffers from amenorrhea which is the loss of their menstrual cycle. Individuals who suffer from anorexia nervosa are usually fearful of eating in public and extremely irritable.
Binge Eating disorder- Individuals usually eat large amounts of food in one sitting. The individual may eat faster when they are going through this binging period. Most times when the individual is binge eating they do not engage in vomiting after eating and do not engage in working out. When binge eating the individual does not know when to stop and usually eats until they get sick or eats even when they're not hungry. Many individuals feel disgusted and embarrassed in their selves after this binge eating and get really depressed which leads them to eat more because this is a form of comfort for them.
Treatment Options: Group
support: Support groups may be aimed at the sufferers getting support and
understanding from peers. There are many different types of groups. Some can be
held in private homes, rented places, treatment centers, hospitals and many
more. Support group topic can include spirituality, art therapy coping
mechanisms.
Therapy: There are plenty of types of people who provide therapy. Counselors,
social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists. What is most important is that
you are in a comfortable and safe environment, conducive to recovery, and with
someone who can counsel you effectively.
Nutritional Counseling: The goal of a nutritionist or dietician is to help you
incorporate healthy eating behaviors in your everyday life. Dieticians can also
play a role in the amount of exercise you do. They may work with you to slowly
introduce more into your life, or to help you in realizing that you are
overdoing it. It is important to find a dietician who has had experience in
treating people with Anorexia, Bulimia and/or Compulsive Overeating. They
should be sensitive to the issues that you are facing and should be aware of
your history.
Individual Counseling: The ultimate goal of your therapy should be to recover.
To learn to be more confident in yourself, to make your voice heard through
communication, to validate your own emotions. To learn to love yourself and
better coping skills with anger, sadness or any other emotion.

injuries and disease with the goals of pain relief, restoration of function and
the return to your fullest level of activity in school, work, recreation and
sports.
Occupational Therapy: Occupational therapists (OTs) help people improve their
ability to perform tasks in their daily living and working environments.
Movement
Therapy: Dance/movement therapy effects changes in feelings, cognition, physical
functioning, and behavior.
