It is said that 10-15% of Americans
suffer from some sort of eating disorder.
Of the Americans with an eating disorder about 10% of them are men. The amount of men with an eating disorder is
said to be under estimated due to the shame men have for having a “women’s
disease" which makes them not want to seek help . A very small amount of people
who have an eating disorder actually receive treatment for it. The rates of eating disorders are rising as
body standards are set at an impossible high by the media. Women are told that they need to look a
certain way in order to be desirable.
Images are photo-shopped to further edit and perfect a women’s body
and give off the perception of what it means to look beautiful.
